Two people were killed when a Mercy Flight Helicopter crashed in the town of Elba in Genesee County, which is roughly halfway between Buffalo and Rochester, NY.
The aircraft was on a training mission, according to State Police Major Eugene Staniszewski in a press briefing.
13 WHAM reported that Batavia State Troopers responded to the crash near Norton Road at about 1 p.m. Tuesday.
The Daily News Online posted that the helicopter reportedly became caught in electric lines, according to scanner reports. Reports from the scene indicate the helicopter was severely damaged.
The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration are working with state police to investigate the cause of the crash.
