Jun. 29—WATERBURY — Three people, including one a child, were taken to hospitals after being pulled from a burning house Wednesday morning, the fire chief said.

Chief Terrence J. Ballou said the child was listed in stable condition. He didn't know the conditions of the two adults.

Firefighters were dispatched to the fire on 3rd Street shortly before 10:10 a.m. They encountered heavy flames on the upper levels of the three-story wood-frame house, he said.

Crews also found three people on the top floor, Ballou said.

Ballou said two adults and one child were rescued from the third floor and firefighters then performed CPR.

Three families live in the house, Bessette said.
