The man toppled off an overlook in Gambrill State Park and fell more than 50 feet down a steep embankment.

The Frederick County technical rescue team put their training to use after a man toppled off an overlook on Gambrill Park Road.

He landed about 50 feet down a steep bankment with serious injuries.

The team and paramedics made their way down to the patient, who was semi-conscious, to asssess and treat him. He was immobilized and placed in a Stokes basket for the trip back up to the top.

He was transferred to a waiting Maryland State Police helicopter that flew him to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.
