D.C. Firefighters Rescue Driver Trapped in Burning, Collapsed Structure

Firefighters rescued a woman trapped in a vehicle inside a burning building Thursday morning.

"The front of the building collapsed, making access difficult, spokesperson Vito Maggiolo told WTOP,  adding that the woman was rescued and taken to a hospital.

Firefighters also had to deal with the fire in the structure.

“I heard a loud bang. Thought it was the garbage truck coming to pick up the trash,” Michael Monk, a witness, told reporters adding that others were screaming: “They were screaming and hollering that somebody was in a in a car that ran into the building.”
