Teen Freed From Sand by San Diego Lifeguards, Firefighters

The teen emerged from the hole to applause and cheers from people on Mission Beach.

A teen freed from a hole in the sand on a California beach emerged to applause and cheers Tuesday evening.

She and friends were digging in the sand in Mission Beach when she fell in and couldn't get out, according to CBS8

Lifeguards and civilians worked together with San Diego firefighters to dig her out.

She managed to walk with medics to a waiting ambulance. She was transported to a hospital for a check-up.
