House Explosion Victims Rescued by Jefferson City, MO, Firefighters
Six people trapped after an explosion leveled a home in Jefferson City were extricated by fire and rescue personnel.
"Rescue operations were particularly challenging due to the extensive structural collapse and significant debris," according to a release from Jefferson City fire officers.
"The team had to carefully tunnel through layers of debris to reach the final occupant, who required intensive extrication."
EMS crews provided critical care intervention for the victims including administering CyanoKits.
Director of Cole County EMS Eric Hoy told KMIZ.this incident was unprecedented for the area.
"This is certainly something out of unusual for us, especially to have this many victims involved. So, this is a pretty significant event for this community,"
Two were flown to University Hispital in Columbia while the others were transported by ambulances. Three of the victims are listed in critical condition.
