Apr. 29—CONNEAUT — Two people were taken to the hospital on Sunday afternoon after a vehicle accidentally drove off the upper pavilion parking lot at Conneaut Township Park, said Conneaut firefighter Gage Janek.
"We estimate it was 50 to 70 feet down the hill," Janek said. He said the driver thought her foot was on the brake, and it was on the accelerator.
The incident occurred around 2:45 p.m., Janek said. He said firefighters had to remove vegetation to get the driver out of the vehicle.
Janek said two people in the vehicle were taken to the hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening. The incident occurred just west of the steel staircase leading to the beach.
Janek said the vehicle did not flip, and appeared to have minor damage. He said firefighters from Kingsville and Springfield ( Pennsylvania) townships also responded to the incident, and the departments were on-scene for about an hour.
