Three Killed, Three Injured When Tree Falls on Car in Climax Township, MI
KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI – Three family members were killed and several others were injured when a tree fell on their vehicle during severe weather Sunday, March 30.
The storm caused damage across the state.
The incident happened on East S Avenue, just west of South 47th Street in Kalamazoo County’s Climax Township.
The names of the victims have not been released pending notification of family.
Kalamazoo County sheriff’s deputies responded at 5:41 p.m. to a report of a traffic crash on East S Avenue. Police found that a tree had struck a vehicle, causing the fatalities and multiple injuries.
The three victims are family members. Police said three others were taken to local hospitals.
One of the injured is in critical condition. The other two are stable, police said.
The incident is under investigation. Police said additional details would be provided after family members have been notified.
Sheriff’s deputies were assisted by Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety, firefighters from Pavilion and Climax townships and Life EMS.
