Swiftwater rescue: Firefighters Rescue 2 People from Island In Rain-Swollen River

LOS ANGELES, CA, DEC. 12, 2014 – At approximately 10 A.M., the Los Angeles Fire Department was dispatched to a swift water rescue of a husband and wife stranded on an island in the rain-swollen Los Angeles River. Responding were Helicopters 2, 3 and 5, plus eight engines, three trucks, a heavy rescue company, two swift water rescue teams, two battalion chiefs and a division chief.
