Texas firefighters rescued a woman who was caught in fast-moving floodwaters Monday.
The woman had been traveling in a Fort Worth neighborhood north of Saginaw when her minivan was swept way by flooding, KXAS-TV reports. By the time crews arrived to help, she was out of her mostly submerged vehicle and hanging on to a tree branch as the swift-moving water rushed around her.
Raw video captured firefighters braving the raging floodwaters to reach the woman and get her to safety. She was shaken by the experience but uninjured.
"Tonight's an example of a situation that could have been much worse, we could have been out here making a recovery instead of a rescue," police spokseman Michael Drivdahl told KXAS.
Crews responded to several other high-water calls, but no rescues were needed. Last week, the department added an extra swift water rescue team in anticipation of the heavy rains that have been drenching the area.
