Exploding Tire Injures Ind. Firefighter at Crane Fire

A Fort Wayne firefighter was injured Wednesday night when a large tire on a burning crane exploded.
A Fort Wayne firefighter was injured Wednesday night when a large tire on a burning crane exploded, according to The Journal Gazette.

Crews responded to the fire at the Masolite Company in the 2200 block of LaFontain Street at approximately 9:30 p.m.

Upon arrival they found a large crane on fire in the back lot.

After the fire was put out, a tire on the crane exploded, sending debris in the direction of the unidentified firefighter.

The firefighter was transported to a hospital with an ankle injury and was listed in good condition.
