Firefighter Patrick Dayton was adding foam to the water tank when he slipped and fell backwards off the hose bed and hit his head on the pavement, according to Deputy Chief Rick Chase.
Crews were battling a brush fire on conservation land behind a townhouse community off of Cara Drive when the incident occurred at approximately 10:40 a.m.
Dayton was placed on a backboard and transported by ambulance to South Shore Hospital.
Chase said he was treated for the head injury and was released.
