A Maryland fire police officer was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle while directing traffic at a crash scene.
David R. Barr, 65, of Port Deposit, was hit by a car Friday afternoon on U.S. 40.
Barr, a member of Community Fire Company in Perryville, was wearing a reflective vest and flares had been set up. But, he was struck about 4 p.m., according to The Herald and Chronicle.
A fire police officer for 13 years, was directing traffic at the request of Perryville Police.
He was originally going to be flown, but EMS crews instead transported him to to Christiana Care Center.
