OAKLAND -- A three-alarm fire early Monday in East Oakland heavily damaged several structures, including a vacant carpet warehouse, and left a firefighter injured and displaced four residents from a home, officials said.
The fire erupted about 4:50 a.m. at the warehouse at 10115 San Leandro St. in the Stonehurst area, not far from the San Leandro border.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, large flames were coming from the warehouse and power lines were falling, making efforts even more hazardous and causing outages in the area, officials said.
The fire spread to at least one other adjacent building as well as a nearby house, prompting four residents there to evacuate. The Red Cross was helping them.

More than 50 firefighters responded to the scene. One firefighter suffered minor injuries.
The fire was contained more than two hours after it started but it had not been officially announced under control.
Numerous streets in the area were closed while firefighters were on scene.
Elevated BART tracks run adjacent to San Leandro Street, but there was no disruption in service.
