A Miss. captain just shifts away from retirement was found unresponsive in the fire station last week.
Clarksdale Capt. Willie Ratliff, 66, was stricken after working out. He was later pronounced dead.
Ratliff was just two shifts away from retiring after about 30 years of service.
His retirement party had been held recently, and nearly all the department showed up to honor the man they considered a fried and mentor.
