The United States Fire Administration (USFA) has confirmed the death of a 31-year-old Cimarron Hills firefighter/paramedic was in the line of duty.

According to the USFA, Jermaine Frye died Oct. 29 at his home a day after he was released from the hospital where he was treated for a work-related injury he suffered while on duty on Oct. 25.

Responders from the Wescott Fire Protection District responded to Frye’s home, but were unable to revive the firefighter.

According to a report published by local television station KKTV 11, Frye had worked for the fire department full-time for the past two years and worked as a part-time and volunteer employee before that. He also worked for the Aurora and Falcon fire departments.

The fire department said it was "saddened" by the news of Frye's sudden passing.

"He absolutely adores his work family...he loved his jobs and everyone he ever worked with," the family wrote in a GoFundMe account set up to help with funeral costs.

Frye was engaged to be married, and he and his fiancée were expecting a child.
