Police arrested the driver who struck a Marion County firefighter at a crash scene Tuesday.
Marion County Fire Rescue crews were working to extricate a pregnant women from a two-car crash on County Road 326 when engineer Brendan Rooney returned to his apparatus to retrieve equipment.
When a driver slowed as she approached the scene, a Ford Focus swerved and struck Rooney and the apparatus, according to the Ocala Star Banner.
Firefighters treated Rooney, who was transported to Ocala Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the Ford Focus, Dominique Oliver, 28, was arrested and charged with drug possession. The Florida Highway Patrol said she would also be cited for the accident.
Three people were injured in the initial crash and taken to area hospitals.
