A Mobile firefighter was hospitalized after being knocked unconscious by an electric shock while trying to rescue a cat in the kitchen of a home.
WALA reports that the firefighter was injured on Sunday during a call for a cat stuck behind a stove in Midtown Mobile.
Mobile Fire-Rescue spokesperson Steven Millhouse said the responding crew believed that electricity to the kitchen of the home had been turned off, but when the firefighter went behind the stove, he was shocked and knocked unconscious.
Fellow firefighters immediately began performing CPR and rushed their colleague to University Hospital, where he was said to be awake and alert and expected to make a full recovery.
The cat also survived.
