NY Fire Captain Killed in Motorcycle Crash

Carl “Keifer” Stahlman, a captain with the Niagara Falls Fire Department, died when his motorcycle was hit by another vehicle Christmas Eve. Niagara police are investigating the accident

Town of Niagara police continue to investigate a fatal crash involving a 51-year-old Town of Niagara man that occurred about 5:10 p.m. Monday on Fashion Outlet Boulevard near Military Road.

The victim of the crash was identified as Carl “Keifer” Stahlman, a fire captain with the Niagara Falls Fire Department, according to Channel 4 News. Acting Falls Fire Chief Clifford Mayes identified him.

Stahlman was operating a motorcycle, traveling north on Fashion Outlet Boulevard when he was struck by a vehicle exiting the Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls. He was ejected and died at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle, a 19-year-old Grand Island women was not injured.

Town of Niagara Police are being assisted by the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team and members of the crime scene unit. Other assisting agencies were the New York State Police, Niagara Falls Police, Niagara Active Hose and Mercy EMS.

Charges will be determined upon the completion of the accident investigation.

Names are not being released pending notification of the family.
