An on-duty Kansas City firefighter suffered a critical head injury after a fall Sunday morning.
Battalion Chief Scott Schaunaman told The Kansas City Star that the firefighter was not actively responding to a call at the time of injury, which occurred near the area of South 47th Street and Shawnee Drive.
"We are hopeful that the firefighter makes a full recovery and the family is very appreciative of the overwhelming support they have received," Schaunaman told KSHB 41. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time."
Schaunaman was unable release any further details, citing an active investigation.
