San Francisco FF Injured in Elevator Shaft Fall

Jul. 16—A San Francisco firefighter was taken to an emergency room after falling down an elevator shaft while battling a blaze in Sea Cliff early Friday morning, according to the Fire Department.
Firefighters responded to a fire at 224 Sea Cliff Ave. shortly before 4:30 a.m. Friday.
A firefighter fell down an elevator shaft while battling the flames, the Fire Department said.
The firefighter, who was not identified, was rescued from the elevator shaft and taken to an emergency room and "will be okay," a spokesperson for the department tweeted Friday. The firefighter remained in the hospital and was listed as stable with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the spokesperson.
The fire was contained before 5 a.m., with no injuries and no one displaced, the Fire Department said. The cause of the blaze remained under investigation.
