Kennett Fire Capt. Robert Moore, 56, suffered an apparent heart attack hours after assisting at a house fire.

Missouri firefighters will offer a final salute to Kennett Fire Capt. Robert 'Big Rob' Moore on Saturday, Dec. 17.

Moore, 56, suffered an apparent heart attack at his home on Dec. 4. He had responded to a residential fire on his previous shirt the day before, according to the U.S. Fire Administration.

Moore began his career as a part-time firefighter with the Kennett Fire Department in September, 1992 and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in November 1995, fire officials wrote on the department's Facebook page.

He accepted a full-time position as a Police Officer with the Kennett Police Department in May of 2000, and he continued to serve as a part-time firefighter. Five years later, he returned to the fire department, and was a parttime police officer.

Moore was promoted to captain in August 2019. "He was a well-respected member of our public safety team and will be missed by all who knew him," officials wrote.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17 at the Kennett High School gymnasium, 1400 W. Washington Street, Kennett. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. and continue until time of service.  Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Kennett.

There will be a procession of fire and rescue vehicles from the school to the cemetery.
