A 20-year-old Abingdon firefighter was killed and another was seriously injured Thursday evening when their rig veered off the road and crashed.
Virginia State Police said Cameron Craig, 20, of Saltville, was killed in the crash.
The vehicle was traveling south on Vance’s Mill Road when it went off the right side of the road, hit a utility pole, and overturned down an embankment, WJHL reported.
The driver was transported to Bristol Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The crew was responding to an alarm when the crash occurred.
