Two TX EMTs, Civilian Killed in Ambulance, Truck Crash

Nov. 8—A fatal head-on crash involving an ambulance in Hebbronville was reported Wednesday, Nov. 8 by the Texas Department of Public Safety with three fatalities.
A communication at 4:59 a.m. dispatched troopers to a two-vehicle collision in Hebbronville. The two vehicles involved were a 2016 Chevrolet Victorious Care Ambulance and a 2016 GMC Sierra.
Jaime Barrera Jr., 27, from Roma, Texas was identified as the driver of the GMC Sierra. Andres Botello, 66, from Zapata was identified as the driver of the ambulance, and Jose Guadalupe Cepeda Lara, 23, from Zapata was identified as the passenger of the ambulance.
All three were pronounced dead at the scene.
According to DPS, its preliminary investigation indicated the GMC Sierra was traveling west on State Highway 16 and the ambulance was going east. The GMC crossed into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with the ambulance.
