Youngsville, NC, Firefighters Mourn Loss of Safety Officer

Youngsville Safety Officer Louis Dunston, 79, suffered an apparent heart attack after a training detail.

Firefighters in Youngsville Fire Department are mourning the loss of one of their own.

Safety Officer Louis Dunston, 79, suffered an apparent heart attack within 24 hours of participating in a training session, the U.S. Fire Administration reported.

On Feb. 20, Dunston suffered a medical emergency at his home. EMS crews were unable to revive him and he was pronounced dead on the scene.

He served the department for 45 years. 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Feb, 29 from 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church in Youngsville. Funeral services with fire department honors will be held at 1 p.m.  Burial will follow in Wake Forest.
