Two firefighters from Lanark Fire Protection District sustained injuries, with being listed in serious condition, after they were battling a grass fire near Chadwick.
The fire reported Saturday afternoon on Shibley Road near Chadwick and multiple mutual aid agencies were called, including Lanark crews.
According to a statement from the department, two firefighters sustained injuries.
Dominic Geerts was flown to OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford, IL, where he had undergone several surgeries. According to a statement, he was still in serious condition Sunday afternoon.
Tyler Weber was taken to Freeport Memorial Hospital from the scene. He was later flown my medical helicopter to OSF St. Anthony Medical Center for additional treatment.
Fire officials said he would be released Sunday afternoon.
Jim Klinefelter said the cause of the injuries is still under investigation.
