RESCUE ONE CONNECTOR BOAT has introduced the Rescue ONE Inflatable Boat Series, featuring smaller, lighter-weight boats designed for rescue operations. Standard features include five separate air chambers, each with its own fill valve and pressure relief valves to enable the boat to be filled with a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) or scuba bottle without fear of bursting the tube; a rigid aluminum floor; interior and exterior rescue rope of easy entry and exit; reflective panels for night-time visibility; and double-layered material on the tube bottoms to provide additional abrasion protection. The boats come in three models – 380RS, 430RS and 470RS – with space for six, eight or 10 people.

Rescue Chain Saw

STIHL has introduced the MS 461 R rescue chain saw for fire, rescue and emergency services operations. Designed for use with a special, heavy-duty, carbide-segmented chain, the saw features a Wrap Handle design and extra-large starter handle for a secure grip with firefighter gloves; a shield to protect the muffler from debris; an adjustable automatic bar and chain oiler to adjust the lubricant of the guide bar and saw chain; an easy-access, tool-less air filter retainer and side-access chain tensioner for low maintenance and convenience; and an IntelliCarb compensating carburetor that automatically adjusts the air/fuel ratio when the air filter becomes restricted or partially clogged and maintains the engine’s correct rpm.

Firefighter Flashlights

STREAMLIGHT INC. has upgraded the lumen light output of the LED models of its Stinger (shown) and Strion flashlights. New Stinger models now feature up to 350 lumens, while new Strion models now offer up to 250 lumens. The enhanced rechargeable lights include the company’s “traditional” Stinger and Strion LED products: the Stinger LED, Stinger DS LED and Strion LED. The high-performance (HP) models also have been upgraded, including the Stinger LED HP, Stinger DS LED HP and Strion LED HP. All new models continue to offer three microprocessor-controlled variable intensity modes and a strobe function. The run times for all the products remain unchanged, ranging from two hours on high to seven hours and 30 minutes on low and a strobe runtime of 5½ hours.

FORD’s all-new Transit full-size van, which goes on sale in late 2013, will be offered with a new, clean-running 3.2-liter Power Stroke five-cylinder diesel engine. The new diesel, Ford’s second in North America, already has established a proven record for reliability, durability and refinement in the global Ford Ranger truck sold in world markets. “The 3.2-liter Power Stroke engine has been developed and proven globally to deliver a world-class combination of power, fuel economy and refinement,” said Joe Bakaj, Ford vice president of Powertrain Engineering. Like the larger 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 offered in Ford F-Series Super Duty trucks, the fuel system has been tailored and calibrated for combustion efficiency. It enables the newest Power Stroke to achieve exceptional fuel economy ratings without affecting power levels.
