MEDINA, OH – April 9, 2020 - In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Fire-Dex announced today that they are starting production of AAMI Level 3-compliant reusable isolation gowns and coveralls.
“The current pandemic has created a shortfall in the supply of many disposable types of PPE and we have urgently been looking for solutions,” said Todd Herring, Director of Marketing and Product Development at Fire-Dex, an Ohio-based manufacturer of personal protective equipment (PPE) for first responders.“We can now offer isolation gowns and coveralls that exceed CDC guidance for COVID-19 related responses. Our first round of production will start shipping in the next few weeks and we plan to produce 100,000 garments in the next 90 days.”
These garments have been tested to 100 wash, dry, and sanitization cycles and still far exceed the AAMI Level 3 requirements.
“The per use cost makes it as affordable as its Level 1 disposable counterparts and the reusability helps reduce the potential of running out of PPE,” said Herring.
The standard gown is a universal fit featuring elastic wrists and an adjustable tie back, while the coveralls are alpha sized and boast elastic wrists, ankles and a hood with an elastic facial opening.
