3M Scott Fire & Safety Unveils the Air-Pak XD SCBA
Monroe, NC (April 9, 2025) – 3M Scott Fire & Safety, a global leader in respiratory protection and personal safety solutions, proudly announces the launch of the 3M Scott Air-Pak XD SCBA. A modern take on a classic design, this self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) is designed to meet the rigorous demands of today's fireground operations.
Built on the proven “wireframe” SCBA backframe and pneumatics platform, the 3M Scott Air-Pak XD SCBA focuses on today’s firefighter who requires an extreme duty SCBA, while maintaining cleanability, comfort, and connectivity.
Additional enhancements include:
- Rugged wireformed backframe is engineered for improved usability, durability, and serviceability.
- Low-profile SCBA designed to help minimize snag points when working in tight spaces.
- New electronics maintain an ergonomic console design, while offering extended range and greater resistance to Radio Frequency (RF) Interference (when configured with 3M™ Scott SEMS 3.0 Wireless SCBA Telemetry System).
- Configurable harness allows for padded or unpadded shoulder and waist pad options, and can be configured with parachute or spring clip buckles.
- Certified to NFPA 1981, Standard on Open-Circuit Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) for Emergency Services, 2019 Edition.

SEMS 3.0 is based on an all-new technology that enhances signal range and penetration, helping to provide greater visibility in large structures and over long distances. When connected to the 3M Scott Incident Remote Data Collection (RDC) system, SCBA telemetry data can be seamlessly integrated with authorized third-party incident management software to provide an unprecedented view into what’s happening on the fireground.
