The EOS-RDL stands out as the only portable light in the market that allows departments to select their preferred power source and firefighter LED.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Dec. 18, 2024 – The Nashville Fire Department has bolstered its nighttime response capabilities with the acquisition of 45 Command Light EOS-RDL (Rapid Deploy Light) units from NAFECO this year. Introduced at FDIC 2024, the EOS-RDL underwent extensive field testing and feedback with Nashville prior to its official launch, affirming its durability, reliability and versatility.

During the four-month testing period, the EOS-RDL demonstrated exceptional performance, prompting the Nashville to select it as a vital addition to the department’s battery-powered arsenal. Serving the vibrant city of Nashville and a populous county of 700,000 residents across 40 stations, the department opted for the RL11D-W1-BD-SP model. This model is equipped with a Whelen Pioneer PCH1 spot-and-flood combination LED light head, boasting 10,130 lumens. Powered by 9-amp-hour DeWalt FLEXVOLT batteries, it ensures a runtime of more than two hours, with the option for continuous operation via shore power connection.

Manufactured by Command Light, a renowned leader in emergency vehicle lighting, the EOS-RDL stands out as the only portable light in the market that allows departments to select their preferred power source and firefighter LED. Options include major fire service brands, such as FireTech Guardian, FRC Mini Spectras and Whelen Pioneer fixtures, as well as economical options from Tomar and Vision X. Power sources range from four non-proprietary battery choices and the option of shore power for uninterrupted operation.

“I would like to thank the Nashville fire department and NAFECO for trusting Command Light and expanding its nighttime illumination equipment,” said former Southeast Sales Manager Gary Wilkins, who helped arrange the trial equipment. “After last year’s bulk purchase of Command Light’s Trident Tripods, and now with this purchase of the compact EOS-RDL light, we are confident Nashville will have ample lighting to aid them in doing the difficult jobs they perform during nighttime operations.”

Command Light, a subsidiary of Super Vacuum Mfg., has innovatively expanded on Super Vac’s popular non-proprietary battery fan design with the EOS-RDL. This recent order from Nashville is indicative of the anticipated demand for this versatile lighting solution.

Command Light Owner Roger Weinmeister acknowledged the company's evolution beyond its patented light tower, emphasizing the importance of portable lighting solutions. He expressed gratitude for the continued partnership with Nashville, underscoring the commitment to fulfilling their portable lighting needs.

With this acquisition, the Nashville Fire Department now boasts a comprehensive lineup of DeWalt-powered equipment, including Super Vac 18” PPVs, 40” Trident Tripods and now this batch of EOS-RDLs, plus a plethora of portable hand tools and firefighting-specific equipment.

“We help many departments around the world with their lighting and are truly impressed with Nashville’s commitment to the safety of its members,” Weinmeister said. "Command Light is proud to supply products that allow their firefighters to have the best tools available to safely and effectively perform their duties — day or night."
