The body of a Florida firefighter who had been missing since late last week was found Tuesday.
Broward Sheriff's Office firefighter James Von Minden, 55, was discovered near the area of Haynie Lane and Randolph Siding Road in Jupiter Farms, WPTV-TV reports. Although the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, which has been heading the search, hasn't released information about the discovery yet, the Broward County firefighters union confirmed Von Minden's identity, according to WPTV.
"We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Jim Vonminden," the union stated in an online update. "We sincerely thank the community for all their help in our search efforts."
Von Minden went missing Friday after he had been in an accident with his truck in Jupiter Farms. Friends and fellow firefighters joined authorities searching the area in the following days.
Von Minden joined the Broward Sheriff's Office in 1990, and he was set to celebrate his 30th annivesary with the department later this week, according to WPLG-TV
