One person is dead and 8 firefighters were injured after fire suppression foam was released at a Wilmington Air Park hangar in Wilmington.

WLWT 5 reports that officials don't know what triggered the fire suppression foam in the hangar but say it wasn't a fire.

When crews arrived on scene, they were told two people were trapped in a vehicle at the entrance of the hangar and one person was missing.

The initial search had to be cut short due to the dangerous conditions.

Two maydays were called and eight firefighters suffered various injuries, including an eye injury and electric shock.

Crews were able to rescue the two people trapped in the vehicle, but the missing person was the fatality.
