VA Firefighter Ejected from Engine in Crash

The Louisa County firefighter suffered serious injuries when the rig hit a tree.

A Louisa County firefighter sustained serious injuries when she was ejected from a fire engine while responding to a call Sunday afternoon.

The fire truck ran off the road and hit a tree, according to WRIC. 

The 20-year-old woman, who suffered life-threatening injuries, was flown to the trauma center at the University of Virginia hospital. She was reported in stable condition Monday afternoon. 

The fire truck driver was released after treatment.

Virginia State Police are investigating the wreck.
