Four Phoenix firefighters were injured Monday when their rig and a flatbed delivery truck collided.
The crew was responding to a medical emergency when the crash occurred, AZ Family reported.
Celeste Elias, an office worker, told a reporter it sounded like an explosion. “I looked up from my desk and saw a big plume of brown dust,” she said, adding that the dust prevented her from seeing across the street.
She said people rushed to help and the firefighters went to check on the other driver.
All five were taken to a hospital for treatment.
The fire truck’s windshield was shattered and front passenger side tire was gone. The gas tank on the flatbed truck was also punctured but was quickly sealed by hazardous materials crews.
Phoenix police are investigating the crash.
