Retired Dallas FF Remembers Blast that Altered his Life

Sept. 30, 2023
“I look much better on the outside than the way I feel on the inside. But I'm thankful I get up every day in recovery,” Former Dallas Firefighter Ron Hall said.

Retired Dallas firefighter responded to many gas leaks during his career. But one would alter everything.

The call was for carbon monoxide. But it wasn't. It was natural gas.

Firefighter Ron Hall told WFAA he had made dozens of gas leak calls and" that one had to explode that day..."I was in the doorway so it trapped me..."

He and other firefighters were injured in the 2021 explosion.

“I look much better on the outside than the way I feel on the inside. But I'm thankful I get up every day in recovery,” he says.

Hall returned to duty, but not for long. He retired after 38 years on the department.

Had there not been a blast at the apartment complex, he would likely still be responding.
