The Concord-Green Fire Department is out of service as firefighters mourn the loss of their chief and captain.
Fire Chief Ralph Stegbauer and Capt. Jeffery Skaggs were killed Saturday morning while working on a radio tower at the station, WBNS reported.
The two were on a lift in a tower basket several feet in the air when it tipped over and ejected them. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
Fellow firefighters from the department were among the first to come to their aid.
Later, the department was taken out of service, Crews from surrounding companies will be responding to calls.
The governor ordered all flags in the state to be lowered to half-mast until sunset on the day of the funeral.
