An early morning fire in an outdoor market near the Macy's flagship store sent one FDNY firefighter to the hospital with serious injuries.

An FDNY firefighter suffered serious injuries in a fire involving holiday vendor booths near the famous Macy's flagship store in Manhattan early Monday.

The fire at the Herald Square Holiday Market was reported around 4:00 a.m. on Broadway near West 35th Street.

The seriously injured firefighter was transported to NYU Langone Tisch Hospital, according to WPIX 11.

FDNY authorities told NBC4 that the firefighter is expected to recover from their injuries.

The fire damaged 11 booth spaces, which were filled with holiday gifts and merchandise.

"I was like where is my booth, I don't understand where my booth is. It's literally gone," vendor Kelli Lipson told NBC. "All the hard work gone. I feel awful for the market organizers too, they work on these for so long and I think they wanted to prove Macy’s could be the next big holiday market.”

"We are heartbroken to share that a fire occurred early this morning on the northside of our Herald Holiday Market at Broadway and 36th Street, resulting in the destruction of a number of small business booths. This is a devastating moment for our market family, especially during what should be a joyful holiday season," event organizer UrbanSpace told the television station.
