Fort Worth Fire Station 8 covers the city's Southside neighbor including a wide varity of single family and multi-family homes, commercial buildings, factories and the city's medical district.
The station is located just south of downtown at West Rosedale and 12th Avenue and is home to Engine 8 and Ladder 8, Deputy Chief, Safety Officer and Command Van. Staffing consists of four on the engine and ladder. The deputy chief has a shift technician and the safety officer responds solo. The command van can be staffed by any firefighter.
The apparatus floor has four drive-through bays and includes storage for equipment and PPE.
The living area includes individual bunk rooms, three officers for company officers, a kitchen and dining area, a television rooms, a watch room and a physical fitness room. Several other areas include storage, utilities and a laundry.
The station is home to the administrative area for the operations division, which includes officers for the assistant chief operations, a reception area, several offices and a conference room. The deputy chief, who serves as the on-duty shift commander is also in this area.
The art work in front of the station is part of the Fort Worth Public Arts project and features a bronze sculpture called "United We Stand." It depicts 12 sets of pull-up boots.
