Flags Stolen from PA Fire Department, FFs Memorial Park

Police are searching for three men who are accused of stealing American and memorial flags from the Hanover Township Fire Department and the Ashley Fire Department’s Memorial Park.

HANOVER TOWNSHIP, PA—Township police are investigating a theft at Hanover Area High School where three unknown men stole an American flag and a POW/MIA flag Wednesday night.

Police said a surveillance camera recorded three men approach the flag pole in front of the high school at 9:53 p.m. and removing the American flag and the POW/MIA flag. They were recorded fleeing toward the Korn Krest section.

An American flag and a Firefighter Memorial Flag were stolen from a pole in front of the Hanover Township Fire Department Headquarters on Sans Souci Parkway, the fire department posted on its Facebook page Thursday.

The flags has since been replaced at the fire department.

The high school and fire department are about one-half mile apart.

In a third incident, an American flag was stolen from the Ashley Fire Department’s Memorial Park on Ashley Street in Ashley around midnight Thursday.

A picture of what appears two juveniles riding bicycles was captured at the Memorial Park, which was posted on the Ashley Crime Watch Facebook page.

Anyone with information about the theft or can identify the men is asked to call Hanover Township police at 570-825-1254.
