Man Shoots Self in Head at CA Fire Station

A 44-year-old man rang the doorbell at Woodland Fire Department's Station No. 2 and then shot himself in the head when a firefighter approached in an apparent suicide attempt.

A man shot himself at a California fire station Sunday in an apparent suicide attempt.

The incident happened shortly after 10 a.m. at Woodland Fire Department's Station No. 2, the Daily Democrat reports. A 44-year-old man rang the station's doorbell and then shot himself in the head when a firefighter came to answer the door.

Firefighters immediately began treating the man after removing the gun. The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the head, according to the Democrat. No firefighters were injured in the incident.
