Locution Systems Announces Go-Live of PrimeAlert Fire Station Alerting System for Kettering Fire Dept.
GOLDEN, Colo., Nov. 14, 2016 – Locution Systems, Inc., provider of the PrimeAlert® Fire Station Alerting System for fire and EMS departments, today announced the successful go-live of its fire station alerting system for the Kettering Fire Department in Kettering, Ohio.
The Kettering Fire Department has deployed both PrimeAlert® IP (dispatch information is sent to Kettering fire stations via a high-speed IP network) and PrimeAlert® Radio (dispatch information is sent to fire stations and first responders in the field via the fire department’s radio system).
The Kettering Fire Department has five fire stations. Three of the fire stations have the PrimeAlert® core system installed for automated voice alerting. Two Kettering fire stations have added zoned fire station alerting.
Zoned fire station alerting is particularly useful in multi-unit fire stations, and is designed to help reduce sleep deprivation for first responders. Zoned station alerting automatically routes dispatches and alerting functions directly to the responders assigned to handle the emergency after the responders have gone to sleep for the night. This allows other first responders in the station to sleep through the night, minimizing the negative effects of sleep deprivation.
The Kettering Fire Department’s two zoned fire stations also have a host of additional fire station alerting devices, including:
- PrimeAlert® LED Reader Boards – These station alerting reader boards visually display dispatch information.
- PrimeAlert® Response Timers – Response timers visually show first responders the time it’s taking them to reach the apparatus bay to leave for an emergency call.
- PrimeAlert® Night Vision Illuminators – An automated fire station lighting system that fills the hallways and egress areas of fire stations with red light to allow first responders to safely navigate to the apparatus bay after dark while preserving their night vision.
- PrimeAlert® Fire Station Speakers – Fire station speakers with volume controls provide high-quality audio so responders can clearly hear the details of emergency dispatches, and clearly understand who’s assigned to handle the emergency call. Station alerting speakers installed include ceiling speakers, near-field speakers for zoning, and exterior horn speakers.
“By deploying the PrimeAlert® Fire Station Alerting System, the City of Kettering, Ohio has made a strong commitment to increase the safety and well-being of its citizens and its emergency responders,” said Glenn Neal, president and founder of Locution Systems. “The PrimeAlert® system has been proven over more than 20 years of deployments in North America, and significantly improves response times to save lives and property. The station alerting technologies deployed in Kettering’s zoned fire stations reduce chronic, intermittent stress and sleep deprivation in first responders, and this helps improve their health and well-being for the long term.”
