Eminence, MO, Fire Station, Apparatus Destroyed by Blaze

March 7, 2024
The volunteer fire department lost all seven rigs as well as all of their equipment and gear.

Fire destroyed the Eminence Area Volunteer Fire Department firehouse and all of its apparatus.

The massive fire was visible for a distance as firefighters from Winona, Ellington, Summersville and Timber responded Tuesday.

“They are holding up pretty good, yeah; I mean, it was pretty tough on us this morning,” Chief Jim Bay told KY3. “It is better on us now, but it is a big brotherhood. And, we have lost everything, but we will build back.”

“We already got donations, and I have a fire department from the state of Wisconsin already has called and offered fire gear. And I have to return calls to St. Louis fire departments to see what they have to offer.”

One of the rigs that was destroyed came from the FDNY and was at the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, the chief said.
