Fire Hits Irving, TX, Fire Station While Crews Out on Call

Nov. 10, 2024
A delivery driver saw flames coming from Irving Fire Station 9 Saturday morning while firefighters were out on a call.

Irving firefighters were called to a building fire at their own Station 9 Saturday.

A delivery driver called 9-1-1 to report flames and smoke coming from the front of the firehouse on Jetstar Drive, just east of DFW Airport, around 9:45 a.m., according to CBS DFW.

Crews from area fire stations responded because the crew from Station 9 was on a call at the time.

Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the kitchen and living area, the television station reported.

"The rest of the station, including the bathroom and sleeping quarters, sustained heavy smoke damage," according to a release from the fire department.

Early reports from fire investigators show the fire started in the kitchen.
