Nashville Fire Headquarters Staff Moves to Mall as New Station is Built

Dec. 19, 2024
After closing a downtown fire station with administration space, Nashville Fire Department is temporarily moving into the Global Mall.

Nashville fire department administrators, inspectors and other non-suppression personnel are moving into a temporary fire headquarters while a new building is constructed.

Downtown's Fire Station 2, which housed many non-firefighting personnel, was closed and with members spread throughout the city, this effort will bring them back together, WSMV.com reports.

Fire department personnel are slated to move to Global Mall in Antioch, east of downtown. The exact timeframe has not been released.

A new station is being built at the site of the previous Fire Station 2 but the project is expected to take at least two years.

“The Nashville Fire Department is excited to announce our temporary relocation to the Global Mall at Hickory Hollow Parkway,” Director Fire Chief William Swann said in a statement. “Thanks to the support of multiple mayoral administrations, we have been able to expand our services to meet the growing needs of our community.”

Swann said the move was precipitated by the need to staff to the fire marshal's office and administration as the city and department grows.
