New Immersive Fire Training Experience from Fire Facilities
SUN PRAIRIE, WI – Firefighters can now take a 3-D virtual walk through The Commissioner, one of the most popular all-steel training towers manufactured by Fire Facilities. With the launch of the Immersive Experience, an online interactive program, participants can walk up and down the stairwells, zoom in and out of different training areas and move throughout the four-story training structure and burn room annex.
“This simulator provides an extremely realistic way for firefighters interested in ‘sampling’ The Commissioner to get a true feeling for the structure,” says Aaron Adams, president of Fire Facilities, Inc. “Whether you’re thinking of purchasing the tower, looking for training tips or want to fine-tune your experience with The Commissioner, this is the next best thing to being in the actual training facility.”
Customized Virtual Experience
The Commissioner is just the first phase of the new Immersive Experience. During the coming months, additional Fire Facilities training structures will be added to the online experience.
While in a specific location during the online visit, guests will be able to get explanations and the parameters of training capabilities of the room they’re visiting. The individualized Immersive Experience continues as your avatar can run or walk, open and close doors and windows, along with moving throughout different areas of the training facility.
“From the moment you begin your Immersive Experience, it’s customized based on your specific desires,” says Adams. “Plus, once a fire department becomes a client of Fire Facilities, they will get their own structure created as an Immersive Experience. This will make it easy to have how-to video guides and maintenance information created on their specific units. They may also want to have virtual training simulations and customized fire plans. All these are now available with the Immersive Experience, which can be viewed on computers, laptops, tablets and mobile devices.”
Designed for Firefighters
Created by digital developers, Afed Limited for Fire Facilities, the Immersive Experience was launched at FDIC 2023.
Every fire chief and firefighter sampling the Immersive Experience at the show was impressed,” says Cam Swainson-Whaanga, founder/CEO with Glims Learning out of New Zealand. “We kept hearing comments of ‘it’s about time we had something like this’ and ‘when can my team try this out.’ That tells us we’re on the right track.
“Just imagine being in a burn room on screen. The tour will permit you to ignite the fire and understand the capabilities of the room space. The overall experience will help people who are looking to purchase, maintain and understand the workings of Fire Facilities training structures. We’re excited to be involved in the continual rollout of new elements of this program throughout 2023.”
Located in New Zealand, Afed Limited is a digital technology company. Afed specializes in Gamification of Digital Learning, using e-learning along with 3D/virtual technologies to showcase, teach and maintain customer services and products.
