The Notre Dame Fire Department at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana has recently taken delivery of a HME Rapid Attack Truck (A.K.A RAT), built on an exclusive HME 1871-SFO custom chassis with a 12-inch raised roof and seating for 6.
It’s powered by a Cummins ISL9-330HP diesel engine and equipped with a Hale “Q-Flo Plus” 1,250-GPM midship pump.
It utilizes an Allison 3000EVS automatic transmission with a push button transmission selector, a Meritor/Wabco 4-wheel stability enhancement system, single frame rails, Whelen OS LED red flashing Deckgun raised light, heater hose insulation package, a David Clark 3800 Intercom system, a back-up camera system with a 7” LCD observation monitor.
It also has a 3-dimensional stainless front grille, cab tilt road interlock, a Gen II full height black EMS cabinet with satin anodized roll-up doors and deep adjustable shelves, center hosewell, LED bumper ground lights, HME Hydra Technology with 1,250-gpm performance, TFT 18-inch telescoping waterway “Extend-a-Gun”, and three crosslay beds.
It also has a brushed stainless compartment roof, 500-gallon rectangular T-Tank, 140 cubic feet of compartment space, 63-inch hosebed height, thru-the-tank ladder group, adjustable hosebed dividers, seven rear wheelwell SCBA tubes, half height satin anodized roll-up doors, 6 LED Model 44 underbody lights, upgraded folding step with LED light, deep adjustable shelving, pullout trays, and a Whelen Freedom lightbar.
