RED OAK, NC, DEC. 7, 2014 – Fire departments from Red Oak, West Mount and Nashville and Nash County EMS units responded to a fire in a farmhouse. Responding units were given an update that the farmer may have re-entered the burning building. First-in units from Red Oak reported a working fire in a one-story frame house located about 3,000 feet off a main road. Firefighters made a quick check and found that the occupant had exited the building. The first line was stretched to the B/C section, where heavy fire was showing, for a quick exterior attack while other firefighters stretched two lines to the A and B sectors. A quick exterior knockdown let firefighters make an interior attack and control the fire in about 30 minutes.
