Trump Photos Prohibited from FDNY Stations, Apparatus

Nov. 16, 2016
FDNY officials received complaints about a mask fixed to the front of a Brooklyn engine company.

Complaints to FDNY officials about Trump photos and a Trump mask have funneled down to fire stations.

The department issued a memo, prohibiting firefighters from hanging photos of trump in their firehouses or on their apparatus.

“Only FDNY wouldn’t want the democratically elected president of America hanging in a firehouse,” a firefighter told the New York Post.

“They have pictures of . . . George Bush standing on the World Trade Center pile with a megaphone,” the firefighter said.

Other photos found in stations include presidents visiting fire stations or firefighters on the streets.

The complaints were about a Trump mask that was fixed to the front of Engine 276's apparatus in Brooklyn. The memo also mentioned photos of Trump seen in a fire station.

A portion of the memo stated: “Posting of these materials is not in compliance with Regs. Please make sure apparatus and quarters are clear of this material. We do not want to see anyone get in trouble for this”

The department wants to stay out of the political scene, FDNY spokesman Jim Long told the newspaper.

“The firehouse is supposed to be a symbol of America," the firefighter told the New York Post reporter. "That’s hard to believe when you can’t post a picture of the president.”
