Ambulance Goes over Calif. Cliff, Sparks Brush Fire

Power also was knocked out for time.

An ambulance went off SR-78 in Carlsbad, careened down a cliff and crashed into a power pole early Monday morning. But, the crew wasn't hurt.

The crew was going to pick up a patient when the driver reportedly swerved to avoid a raccoon, went off the highway and navigated a nearly 90-degree drop of 100 feet before striking the pole.

In addition to sparking a brush fire, power was knocked out.
