Feb. 01--In a battle of fire and ice, New York Cityfirefighters have been trying to tame a warehouse fire in Brooklyn for 14 hours, even as they cope with freezing temperatures that have left their hoses coated with ice.
The blaze was reported at 6:28 a.m. Saturday, according to Firefighter Danny Glover with the Fire Department of New York, and it was still raging at 8:30 p.m. local time. There were no injuries reported, he said.
"It looks like the whole building is going to be gone because of the fire," Glover told the Los Angeles Times.
About 270 firefighters were still at the blaze, and also dealing with temperatures in the 20s, he said.
The warehouse, which from the air appears to be a block long, is located in the Williamsburg neighborhood, close to the waterfront and near other warehouses.
It is owned by CitiStorage, which is a records storage and shredding company in New York, according to the company's website.
